Abstract

ABSTRACT. This study aims to examine the role of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) in supporting sustainable education in educational institutions through a normative–exploratory qualitative approach based on a literature review. The results indicate that, conceptually, GHRM plays a strategic role in shaping environmentally friendly behavior, enhancing educators’ competencies, and fostering a sustainable organizational culture through practices such as green recruitment, green training, and green performance management. However, its implementation remains partial and has not yet been systematically integrated. Key challenges include resource constraints, low environmental awareness, resistance to change, and weak policy support. Therefore, an integrative strategy is needed through policy strengthening, human resource competency enhancement, and synergy between management systems and the curriculum to optimize sustainable education.


 


ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji peran Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) dalam mendukung pendidikan berkelanjutan di institusi pendidikan melalui pendekatan kualitatif normatif–eksploratif berbasis studi literatur. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa secara konseptual, GHRM berperan strategis dalam membentuk perilaku ramah lingkungan, meningkatkan kompetensi pendidik, dan membangun budaya organisasi berkelanjutan melalui praktik seperti green recruitment, green training, dan green performance management. Namun, implementasinya masih bersifat parsial dan belum terintegrasi secara sistemik. Tantangan utama meliputi keterbatasan sumber daya, rendahnya kesadaran lingkungan, resistensi perubahan, serta lemahnya dukungan kebijakan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi integratif melalui penguatan kebijakan, peningkatan kompetensi SDM, dan sinergi antara sistem manajemen serta kurikulum untuk mengoptimalkan pendidikan berkelanjutan.
